About

“The wind swings wildly each day, from Northeast to Northwest, then Southwest, then all the way around again. A quick loop around the Montauk Lighthouse lot, and then thru the 4x4 access path to the North Side, and I’m reminded of why I should never make fishing predictions. I’m totally unprepared for this.” - Dispatches From Montauk recently published in On The Water.
“On the previous Thursday the wind shifted north, then light northeast. The forecast hadn’t changed in a week. Winds would steadily increase over three days, from 20-25 knots to 30+ with gusts to 50 by Sunday. All local charter and party boat trips were quickly canceled. A steady procession of sedans and high-end SUVs fled west, backing up traffic at downtown lights and crosswalks from East Hampton to the Shinnecock canal.

But a small convoy of slide-on campers and trucks with oversized tires - many bearing logos of favorite surfcasting brands - headed in the opposite direction, into the storm. A pleasant reminder that there are still quite a number of surfcasters who are willing to suffer for the adventure of fishing a fall storm”
- The Nor’easter published in Surfcaster’s Journal
