ABOUT
North Bar Media is a digital studio of work - Photos, Videos, and Writing. It’s all here to share, for the simple joy of it, or to contribute to commercial or publishing projects.
Much of the focus is on coastal living in the Northeast US, especially Montauk.
I’ve been fishing and surfing my entire life. After a chance trip to Montauk over 30 years ago, I was pretty sure I found what I was looking for. This is where I fish, surf, hike, bike … and now photograph, pretty much the entire year.
I have a BS in Marine Biology from the University of South Carolina and worked in the labs of the Baruch Institute for Coastal Research before going into private business. The salt has remained the focal point in my life.
I have a USCG Captain’s License, and currently run a 23 foot Contender out of Montauk NY, but I fish the surf regularly as well.
Over the past 25 years I have contributed many essays and images to a variety of publications, including The Fisherman, Surfcasters Journal, and On The Water.
I remain active in efforts to better manage our marine resources, and have helped lead efforts to protect striped bass, especially during pivotal times in the management of this important fishery.
